Desert Festival - Jaisalmer Feb 21-23, 2005

In sharp contrast to the golden sands , a riot of colour awaits you – myriad hues of red, green, blue, pink- from the skirts worn by the women to the turbans on the men’s head… 

Come-experience the desert in its many shades and be a part of this festival. 

SITA Oasis 

Fifty custom-made tents each with a bedroom, bathroom and verandah, offering you comfortable accommodation in close proximity to the fair grounds. Meals are specially prepared, showcasing the local cuisine. Evenings are spent around a blazing camp fire where the glow of the fireflies almost rivals the silver of the full moon.

13 February DELHI 

Full day sightseeing of Old & New Delhi, visiting the Jama Masjid, Humayun’s Tomb and Red Fort among others. 

14 February DELHI – MANDAWA (By road 280 kms/ 6-7 hrs)  

Drive to Mandawa. Visit the havelis and take a walk through the village. 

15 February MANDAWA – NAGAUR (By road 180 kms/ 4 hrs)  

Drive from Mandawa to Nagaur. Visit to the fair ground. Overnight at SITA Oasis - Nagaur 

16 February NAGAUR 

Full day for activities at the fair ground. Overnight at SITA Oasis - Nagaur 

17 February NAGAUR – PUSHKAR (By road 170 kms/ 4 hrs) 

Drive from Nagaur to Pushkar. Sightseeing of the temple and lake. 

18 February PUSHKAR – UDAIPUR (By road 250 kms/ 6 hrs) 

Drive from Pushkar to Udaipur. 

19 February UDAIPUR  

Full day sightseeing of the city including the City Palace and other sights. 

20 February UDAIPUR – JODHPUR (By road 240 kms/ 5 hrs) 

Drive from Udaipur to Jodhpur. Half day sightseeing of the city – Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jaswant Thada and other sights. 

21 February JODHPUR – JAISALMER (By road 310 kms/ 7 hrs) 

Drive from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer. 

22 February JAISALMER 

Full day sightseeing of the fort and city. See the various folk rituals associated with the Desert Festival. 

23 February JAISALMER – BIKANER (By road 325 kms/ 7 hrs) 

Drive from Jaisalmer to Bikaner. Half day sightseeing of the Junagarh Fort and the city. 

24 February BIKANER – JAIPUR (By road 270 kms/ 6 hrs) 

Drive from Bikaner to Jaipur. 

25 February JAIPUR 

Morning visit to Amer Fort. Followed by visit to Jantar Mantar and City Palace. 

26 February JAIPUR –DELHI (By road 265 kms/ 5 hrs) 

Drive from Jaipur to Delhi to connect to onward destination.
